Tatum owns a community theater that through the years has struggled to keep audiences' in the seats. Feeling the pressure to sell, Tatum must contend with the pleas of her 10-year-old daughter, Liv, a budding actress, to keep the plays coming. Then, out of the blue, Liv gets an important ally in saving the theater—her long lost great-grandfather and former Broadway star, Hutch (Burt Reynolds). A little forgetful and unable to live on his own, Tatum is now responsible for him, Liv and an adopted Greyhound named Hamlet. If that's not enough, Hutch and Liv decide to put on a major production that could change everything—for Tatum, for her family and for the theater she loves.
